Rowan Atkinson’s Lancia Has “Bean” Put Up For Auction

Legendary Actor and Comedian Rowan Atkinson is known throughout the world as snobbish historical peer, Edmund Blackadder, bumbling super spy, Johnny English, and that comical visitor from another planet, Mr Bean. However, he is also known as a massive car buff.
Cars like the Aston Martin V8, a Jaguar MK7 which he races at Goodwood, and that famous McLaren F1 which was crashed by Rowan himself, twice, many iconic cars have graced the Atkinson garage. Now, one of those in particular is up for sale and its no less an icon
This Lancia Delta Integrale Evoluzione II is up for auction on February 25th at Race Retro Show in Warwickshire, UK thanks to Silverstone Auctions. It is also being offered by sale by Rowan himself. Expected to fetch between the equivalent of $124,000 and $143,000 NZ, this Integrale represents the last road-going hurrah for one of the true greats of the World Rally Championship
The Lancia Delta Integrale utterly dominated the WRC from 1987 to 1992. The Integrale even took home the World Rally Championship six times in succession. Towards the end of its domination saw the growth of the production Integrale Evoluzione or Evo.
The Evos were fitted with a bigger body kit and additional aero aids along with some extra power. There were two variants, the Evo I and Evo II. The latter was produced at the end of the Integrale production run in 1993. It’s 2L turbocharged 16-valve four-cylinder engine produced 215hp.
This particular Integrale spent most its life in Japan before being imported back to the UK in 2011. During its time in the UK, the Integrale managed to rack up 87,000kms before being purchased by Rowan Atkinson in 2021.
What adds to the appeal of this particular Integrale is its Lord Blue paint scheme. The colour is rather rare as most Integrales of the era are usually painted in yellow, red or white. The car also comes with a full-service history and Atkinson has ensured it has remained in immaculate condition.
All Delta Integrales are commanding high prices these days. However, due to this one’s celebrity owner, we wouldn’t be surprised if it features a lot more than the estimate suggests.
