Paul Walker’s BMW M3 E30 sells for Decent Dough

A BMW M3 E30 has just been sold for the equivelant of $248,000NZ. There is a good reason for this however, it was once the property of the late great Paul Walker.
For car lovers everywhere, the late Paul Walker needs little introduction. Famous for his vehicular exploits in the Fast and Furious film franchise, he also had a real-life passion for cars.
A considerable amount of his personal car collection was auctioned off late last year. Many petrol heads saw this as an opportunity to snap themselves up a piece of star studded automobilia. However, many of which were eighties and nineties M powered BMW’s. Ironic considering we immediately associated Walker with the JDM toys he played with as Brian O’Connor in the Fast franchise.
Many of his BMW collection were E30 and E36 Lightweight M3s. The red 1991 E30 M3 you see here was part of that Bimmer ensemble. Walker sold it on two months before the young actor was tragically killed in an accident involving his friend’s Porsche Carrera GT.
With a low 21,320km from new, and presented in completely original condition. The car is sitting on the optional 16-inch Sport Evo wheels and still had the original 15inch set handy. The E30 M3 has been snapped up by its new owner for the equivalent of $246,000NZ.
According to Hagerty, the current average price for a 1991 M3 ranges $56,000 ($92,000NZ), to $139,000 ($228,404NZ). By these statistics, the price of the ex-Walker example isn’t too out of this world.
The BMW E30 M3 is one of the most sought after cars from BMW’s long and rich history. With a peppy naturally aspirated four cylinder engine and close ration five speed manual box, it offers a purists drive. Plus, its pedigree as a DTM and Touring Car Championship winner, makes it irresistible to Bimmer fans.
Because of this, the E30 M3 shows no signs of depreciating in value. You would be hard pressed to find Kiwi based examples exchanging hands for less than six figures.
