Testimonials

"I recently purchased a vehicle from Jesmond and found the whole process to be a great experience. I found Jesmond to be a very obliging and forthright person to deal with and felt quite quickly, that he is a man of integrity. He was very accommodating and allowed me all the time I required in making my purchase, never at any time did I feel pressured or unduly influenced in any way. Having said that he did take the time to find out what my needs and wants were regarding my vehicle purchase and was able to steer me on the right path with his vast knowledge of European cars until I was able to decide clearly what it was that I wanted. Once I had made my choice of vehicle he supplied me with all of the relevant history on it (where it originated from, work history etc) and familiarised me with the vehicle covering its performance and general running and how to get the best out of it. He encouraged me to get a check on the car prior to purchase and informed me of the best agents and automotive engineers that were locally available. His obvious love and passion for his vehicles and European vehicles in general came across strongly and only enhanced my faith in him and the car I was considering to purchase. When the sale was made and upon uplifting the vehicle I was delighted to find a full tank and a bottle of wine included. A nice touch. In short I found Jesmond a very professional and amiable person to deal with and would have no hesitation doing further business with him and would recommend him to anyone that could benefit from what he has to offer."

Description

The MGB GT in rubber-bumpered form is still your cheapest way into 'B ownership.

Given how aghast aficionados were at its Federalised bumpers at the time of its launch, we can see how that's happened. But it's funny how the passage of time has really softened those controversial looks - a testament to the design department at Longbridge, which oversaw the installation of those bumpers on the 1975 cars.

In reality, the MGB's modifications were superbly executed, and despite being huge, the bumpers flow well with the existing car's styling. We're not kidding - look at a Seveties Fiat X1/9, BMW 2002 or Lancia Montecarlo to see how bad Federal bumpers can look.

ABOUT THIS CAR

  • Chassis: GHD5456992G
  • NZ New - last owner 19 years - only 4 long term owners before that.
  • Very original car
  • Body and paint in good order
  • Upholstery, carpets, seats, hood lining, door cards, dashboard - all in very good original order.
  • Good mechanically. Good engine. Car drives very well

Prices are low compared with older chrome-bumpered cars and you get pretty much the same package. What's not to like?

The MGB is Britain's most popular classic car with good reason: it's widely available; has great parts and specialist support; and as long as you're not too demanding an owner, they are really good fun to drive. And let's be honest, that B-series engine sounds good when rasping through the exhaust system.

The appeal of the later cars is not just their lower prices - although that's a big part of it - but you also have the added advantage of BL's infamously garish colour palette inside.

Will be sold WOF'd and registered if sold in New Zealand.

TRANSPORT / WORLDWIDE SHIPPING CAN BE ORGANISED ON THIS VEHICLE ON BUYER'S BEHALF AT BUYERS COST.

DISCLAIMER

At Waimak Classic Cars, our principal interest is to ensure the preservation of classic and vintage vehicles. Please remember that our vehicles are many years old, often with further previous owners. Many have been bought by us recently. We cannot know exactly what repairs or maintenance has been done although we do our best to obtain log books and copies of invoices of work done, when, and by whom.

Our descriptions are based on our own observations and knowledge and we look for the best examples we can find. Indicated mileages are based on the records showing with NZTA and / or the vehicle’s odometer reading. Because of the age of the vehicle, this can never be guaranteed. Our inspections are generally non-invasive. Our description is based on a visual inspection and on information supplied to us by third parties.

Any sale is on the condition that the purchaser relies on his/her own judgment and does not rely on our skill or judgment or on any representation made by us. This applies even if the Buyer has not inspected the vehicle before purchase. We strongly recommend that you have the vehicle inspected by an independent assessor qualified to comment on the particular vehicle’s condition. If you are unable to organise this, then this can be organised on your behalf, at your cost.

We are proud of our reputation. However, no older vehicle can be expected to be as reliable as a new one and so all our vehicles are sold on an as is where is basis. Mechanical breakdowns, electronic failures at inconvenient times and maintenance costs are part and parcel of the ownership of classic and vintage vehicles. Reliability is a combination of the particular vehicle, how it has been driven and maintained, and luck.
