Most of us know him best as the actor, comedian, and creator of hillarious TV characters like Partridge and Saxondale, Steve Coogan. What some may not know is Coogan loves classic cars, and has a few rarities in his garage.

Now, one of his collection is up for grabs, a 1961 Jaguar E Type Series 1 3.8 Roadster. Coogan’s E Type was first registered on September 8 1961. This makes chassis number #62 one of the first 92 right hook E Types ever produced.

With a 3.8L straight six and four speed Moss gearbox, the E Type was the best bang for your buck sports car of the time. Able to reach close to 150mph, it cost a fraction of the price of the equivalent Ferrari or Aston Martin.

This Jag spent most of its life in Scotland, being handed down through four different owners in Fife and Edinburgh. In 2016 it was sold by Silverstone Auctions to Steve Coogan. He came across the car thanks to TV Presenter and Classic Car Boffin Quentin Wilson.

In 2017, the E Type wa subjected to full restoration thanks to XK Engineering. The project took two years and means the E is in concours condition today, complete with Jaguar Heritage Cerrificate.

Expect Coogan’ E Type to fetch between $576,000 and $670,000NZ. Keep an eye out for it in Silverstone Auctions online sale from July 31st to August 2nd. Serious dough for a seriously cool car.
