Testimonials

"I feel I must write to you a letter that you may like to put to your customers. As you know I missed on a couple of your cars because of a car I was selling . However a lovely looking car came up on trade me .It was in North Auckland. I rang the older owner and found he had brought the car off a neighbour, I asked him about any rust problems . He said any rust that was there had been cut out and repaired properly. It had just been re upholstered and as the paintwork was original he had only the mudguards resprayed. It had new tyres and new wheel cylinders and brakes relined. As it had been in storage for 8yrs it had to be certified. But where he lived he said would pose a problem for getting it to the testing station. He said would I get it done from my end. He said everything had been done and it would fly through.I said I would and got it Transported to Palmerston North. When it arrived the first thing the transporter driver said was be carefull it has very poor brakes. Then takingit up a small rise to get it into my garage the clutch was slipping badly. The paint was far from original and the mudgaurds had been sprayed with an aerosol can . These are just a few problems with the car. I rang the seller up told him how disapointed I was and said if I transport it back to him will he refund my money. He said no. As all the dealings I had with him were on the phone and nothing in writing. My hands were tied. Not all Trade Me sellers are honest. Make sure you go to Waimak Classic Cars who I know deal in quality cars."

      Description

Here's a journey back to robust simplicity...

The year 1983 marked the end of an era for the Ford F-Series, with the F-100 bidding farewell to its fans.

As a testament to American engineering and work ethic, the 1983 Ford F-100 stood as a symbol of durability and simplicity in an age that was on the cusp of technological transformation. Born from the assembly lines of the Ford Motor Company, a brand synonymous with the very fabric of automotive history, this truck was designed to be as reliable as it was straightforward.

A unique fact that might pique your interest: the '83 F-100 was the last to wear its badge before Ford transitioned to the F-150 as its base model, making it a significant piece in the puzzle of Ford's storied lineage.

With its boxy silhouette and utilitarian charm, the 1983 Ford F-100's exterior styling was a reflection of its no-nonsense approach to truck design.

      ABOUT THIS TRUCK

      • This can be best described as a Classic Working Man's Truck...and LOOK AT THAT PRICE :)
      • Its not for the purist but for someone who wants a strong reliable classic truck, that can be used as a workhorse, daily, without issues.
      • We understand engine and gearbox are out of a Toyota Coaster (circa 1997). Anyway, its all certified and done up to be a reliable daily classic working truck...and it does go very well indeed.
      • Looks to be a NZ New Truck sold by Hutchinson Ford in Christchurch with only four long term owners.
      • 2WD, Turbo.
      • Straight body and all panels seem clean from rust. The body is robust, featuring clean lines that exuded strength and capability.
      • Paint is good.
      • Inside, the cabin is still original and one must add - functional with a dash of comfort, boasting materials that prioritised longevity over luxury. The dashboard is very good with no cracks. Carpet is old but still good. Seat is good (light stains). Door cards and rest of plastic trim are still solid but could do with a redye and for the asking price (or a close enough offer) we would include this for a Buyer on sale, as it would finish it off quite nicely.
      • Technological features are modest by today's standards, but it offers what is necessary to get the job done without fuss.
      • Tires are good including spare wheel.
      • Battery is good.
      • Fan and heater works
      • Comes with modern stereo that works.
      • Tray is tidy with what seems to be a new floor fitted.
      • The handling is what one would expect from a truck of its size and era—sturdy and dependable, especially under load.
      • Suspension has a solid feel and that's also when driving on uneven terrain.
      • Distance traveled showing circa 53K kms on odometer - would have obviously been round being a five digit odometer.

The 1983 F-100's contribution to automotive history lies in its role as a bridge between the old and the new. It carries forth the legacy of Ford's earlier trucks while paving the way for future innovations in utility vehicle design. Its straightforwardness set it apart from competitors who were beginning to embrace more complex technologies, making it a favorite among traditionalists who valued reliability over frills.

Among some of the more intriguing trivia about the 1983 F-100 is its occasional appearance in film and television, often as a symbol of blue-collar America.

While not known for breaking speed records, it has certainly set a standard for endurance and resilience. Criticisms were few but typically centered around its lack of modern amenities—a point that many purists argue is actually to its credit.

We feel that the 1983 Ford F-100 represents a pivotal moment in automotive history—a time capsule of simplicity before the digital age took hold of vehicle design. Its enduring appeal is a testament to its design philosophy: a reliable, straightforward truck that gets the job done. For those who appreciate classic American Pick up Trucks, here's an opportunity to own a reliable F-100 as a daily driver.
