Wind Back Time
Volkswagen Beetle Convertible 1965
Specifications
Description
The simple drop-top classic that resulted from the two German companies’ efforts became the world’s most long-lived drop-top with the Beetle Cabriolet’s production lasting from 1950 to 1980.
These privately imported VW Cabriolets are a crowning jewel for many car enthusiasts. Powered by a willing air-cooled flat-four engine and four-speed gearbox, these earlier cars are highly desirable and collectable. In contrast to backyard-hacked conversions, the Karmann-built Cabrios have chrome-edged wind-up windows and a surprisingly weatherproof multi-layered roof on a simple but rugged folding frame.
ABOUT THIS CAR
- Designed by Karmann, this car is a beautiful specimen. No rust, exceptional paint, many original parts, the engine is true, and she's fun to drive.
- It's an aircooled VW... what's not to like?!!?!? A lot of power that you can really feel. This is a drivers vehicle. If you're looking for auto seat adjustments and power windows and heat and a/c and what not, then this is not for you. If you love cars and driving them then get yourself into this VW!
- She is 100% stock and a hoot to drive. Everyone loves to come tell stories how their families all have owned one and the crazy stuff that happened to them. I cant think of a better entry collector car for an enthusiast to begin with.
- Head turner, great gas mileage, cheap to repair and maintain and if you do manage to run out of gas, its really easy to push :)
- Ultimate cool to suit a laid back lifestyle.A great classic for the ladies too.
- Performance - exceptional handling, steering feels like its power assisted, easy gear shift.
- Build - hard body with classical sportive appearance. Love the supportive seats and the old dashboard. It's like driving a new 60 year old car. Not many of these old Bugs left in this kind of condition, and none of them look and drive like this one. Plus if you run out of gas, its easy to push :) I really hope everyone gets to drive one in this condition at least once in their life.
- Perfect condition – purchased from Drew Colome of Colome Motors (Quality Vintage Volkswagen Specialist since 1964 in Los Angeles California, USA) and first registered in New Zealand in 2013.
- Still looks like its just come out of its restoration. Recent work include brakes, servicing etc.
- This is a De Luxe Model – still on 6V Battery
- Simple, small, fast (enough), cool (especially in winter), low, safe for pedestrians (they hear you coming from a distance), only few electrical components.
The perfect vehicle for your car collection, for a car museum or for that weekend drive, top down, sun in your face wind blowing through your hair. This is the vehicle for you. A beauty, a sound investment, a people magnet and a head turner!
