Testimonials

"I feel I must write to you a letter that you may like to put to your customers. As you know I missed on a couple of your cars because of a car I was selling . However a lovely looking car came up on trade me .It was in North Auckland. I rang the older owner and found he had brought the car off a neighbour, I asked him about any rust problems . He said any rust that was there had been cut out and repaired properly. It had just been re upholstered and as the paintwork was original he had only the mudguards resprayed. It had new tyres and new wheel cylinders and brakes relined. As it had been in storage for 8yrs it had to be certified. But where he lived he said would pose a problem for getting it to the testing station. He said would I get it done from my end. He said everything had been done and it would fly through.I said I would and got it Transported to Palmerston North. When it arrived the first thing the transporter driver said was be carefull it has very poor brakes. Then takingit up a small rise to get it into my garage the clutch was slipping badly. The paint was far from original and the mudgaurds had been sprayed with an aerosol can . These are just a few problems with the car. I rang the seller up told him how disapointed I was and said if I transport it back to him will he refund my money. He said no. As all the dealings I had with him were on the phone and nothing in writing. My hands were tied. Not all Trade Me sellers are honest. Make sure you go to Waimak Classic Cars who I know deal in quality cars."

      Specifications

      Description

The need for this kind of car, and its functional objectives were formulated by Adolf Hitler, wishing for a cheap, simple car to be mass produced for the new road network of his country. He contracted Ferdinand Porsche in 1934 to design and build it. Porshe and his team took until 1938 to finalise the design.

The result is one of the first rear-engined cars since the Brass Era. With 21,529,464 produced, the Beetle is the longest running and most manufactured car of a single platform ever made.

1968 was a year of major change. The most noticeable of which were the new larger, higher mounted C-section bumpers. At the rear, new larger taillamps were adopted and were able to accommodate back up lamps. Other improvements, were a new outside gas filler with spring loaded flap, eliminating the need to open the trunk to refuel.

      ABOUT THIS CAR

      • Engine #: H0998349
      • Clean, straight body with like new paint
      • Interior in excellent condition
      • Mechanically sound – starts, goes and drives well.
      • Previous lady owner
      • Good tyres
      • Desirable Manual transmission
      • Maintenance and servicing records available with car.
      • Guaranteed not to boil plus you'll never need anti freeze and if you ever manage to run it out of gas, its not hard to push either.
      • Not the fastest car around but guaranteed to whizz right past petrol stations, tyre and repair shops and if you happen to think that these cars are ugly, remember that ugly is only skin deep.

I suppose nowadays one can argue that this little car isn't much of a novelty anymore. College students no longer try to squeeze in it. The guy at the petrol station no longer asks where the petrol tank is. We no longer try to prove its air tight by floating it in water.

This is because after almost 80 years of Volkswagen Beetle, we all got used to such economies and so we do not think about such economies any more¦except when you squeeze this car into a small parking spot. Or renew your small insurance. Or pay your small repair bill. Or trade your old VW with a brand new one. Think it over!

So here we have it – the most successful car of the last century; still surviving the test of time; still going strong; still unmatched; still unbeaten in its class; still beautifully ugly, still economical and cheap to run, still the best peoples car to ever be manufactured.

All these credentials point towards the one and only, nowadays desirable, classic Volkswagen Beetle, so be quick on this one – as these cars NEVER last.
