"Buying a classic car is a very special experience for the enthusiast like myself. It often involves a long period of searching for just the right car culminating in some nervousness once the deal is done that it will live up to one’s expectations. Those of us with a long history of owning classics will have probably bought at least one lemon – mine was a Lotus Europa! Hence why the pleasure of dealing with Waimak Classic Cars, Jesmond and Gloria was so refreshing. True enthusiasts with integrity, knowledge and patience. My Jaguar XK8 was part of an extensive collection of high quality classics which were a joy to behold. Thanks for all your help, it was the best experience of buying a classic in over 50 years of my involvement."Gordon Hosking, Mangawhai Northland, New Zealand
The final iteration of the P5 appeared in September 1967. Powered by the 3,528cc engine, the car was badged as the "3.5 Litre", and commonly known as the P5B.
The 'B' in the "P5B" model name came from Buick, the engine's originator. The Borg Warner Type-35 automatic transmission, hydrosteer variable ratio power steering and front Lucas fog lights were standard on this model.
Output of 160 bhp was claimed along with improved torque. When compared to its predecessor, the aluminium engine enabled the car to offer improved performance and fuel economy resulting both from the greater power and the lesser weight of the power unit.
The exterior was mostly unchanged from the P5, apart from bold '3.5 Litre' badging, a pair of fog lights which were added below the head lights, creating a striking 4 light array, and the fitting of chrome Rostyle Wheels with black painted inserts.
The P5B existed as both the 4-door coupe and saloon body style until end of production. Production ended in 1973, by when 9099 coupés and 11,501 saloons had been built. This car is a Saloon. Queen Elizabeth II owns (or used to own) an Arden Green Rover P5B Saloon.
This car comes with OVER NZD12K worth of service / maintenance records - available since 1997.
It won Second Place in the Auckland Pride of Ownership Event 1999 and First Place in the Auckland / Waikato Annual Challenge - Pride of Ownership Event 2000.
Original Operation Manual & Haynes Manual also available with car. Also has original car jack, tools etc.
Car enjoys a matched set of Tires and a totally refurbished Interior in high quality leather. All instruments work.
