Rover P5 MK2 1965

Specifications

Description

Just occasionally, a really superb example of a marque appears for sale and this is it.

This saloon is a much larger car than the P4, which in some respects it replaced. The P5 was extremely popular with United Kingdom Prime Ministers and government officials of its day. Queen Elizabeth II is said to have favoured driving her P5.

For over 15 years, the Rover was the official transport of the establishment. With a portly, dignity and polished patriotism, it became the perfect motoring embodiment of Governmental Grandeur which is why every UK Prime Minister from Howard Wilson to Margaret Thatcher where chauffeured round in a Rover.

f you're looking for a classic that sums up everything that's great about British cars, nothing can match that mobile drawing room, the Rover P5. Luxurious, solidly built, usable and brilliantly supported by a network of specialists plus a superb club, the P5 is one of those classics that makes sense on pretty much every level. Even the Queen owns one, and apparently she prefers drtiving it to being ferried about in one of her many Rolls-Royces.
