"Gloria and team...Thank you!...From my parents driveway in Rangiora New Zealand to the Lincolnshire Wolds in England....... your care and attention has been so supportive and more than just a job. You have helped transport a car and memories. Without your help at Waimak Classic Cars, this journey for the 1974 MGB would have been more difficult, or still just a dream. Thank you for making this dream come true. Can not thank you enough."Susan C Waller, Lincolnshire Wolds, United Kingdom
Riley was a British motorcar and bicycle manufacturer from 1890. Riley became part of the Nuffield Organisation in 1938 and was later merged into British Leyland. ln July 1969 British Leyland announced the immediate end of Riley production, although 1969 was a difficult year for the UK auto industry and cars from Riley's inventory may have been first registered in 1970. Today, the Riley trademark is owned by BMW.
Riley production ended with the 1960s, and the marque became dormant. In September 2010 the motor magazine 'Autocar' reported that BMW were considering the revival of the Riley brand in the form of a variant of the redesigned MINI
This would most likely be a luxury version taking its cues from the 'Elf' of 1961-9, with a 'notchback' (booted) body, and the interior trimmed in wood and leather in the manner of earlier Rileys. No sources were quoted, however, and in the absence of any statement from BMW reports of the possible resurrection of Riley must be regarded as highly speculative.
But then the classic car market is all about speculation and if that did happen, imagine what such a move would do in terms of value to these classic Riley's – it would sky rocket the prices for pure original examples like this one.
So we believe now's the time to invest one of these especially in one that is very original, has low ownership and low mileage – like this one.
Recent maintenance include work on thermostat and gasket, water pump, exhaust, bushes, fuel pump etc etc (approx $1600.00 spent in maintenance catch up work in 2013). As a result, this car drives and handles extremely well.
Good straight, rust free body and paint is still very presentable. The wood fascia is excellent – carpet, seats and door cards still in very good condition.
Quite a few Elf's around – very few like this one.
Car will be sold with a six month WOF and twelve month registration.
SHIPPING / TRANSPORT CAN BE ORGANISED ON BUYER'S BEHALF AT BUYERS COST.
