MG B GT 1973

Specifications

Description

Once upon a time MG had a feeling about life and they made a GT out of it.

The MGB GT sported a ground-breaking greenhouse designed by Pininfarina and launched the sporty “hatchback” style.

By combining the sloping rear window with the rear deck lid, the B GT offered the utility of a station wagon while retaining the style and shape of a coupe. This new configuration was a 2+2 design with a right-angled rear bench seat and far more luggage space than in the roadster. Relatively few components differed, although the MGB GT did receive different suspension springs and anti-roll bars and a different windscreen which was more easily and inexpensively serviceable.

ABOUT THIS CAR

  • Drives incredibly well.
  • Straight rust free body – Original paint still in very good condition

  • Healthy motor & Mechanically sound
  • Very honest and reliable classic car
  • It's the archetypal British sports car - tough, entertaining and timeless.

The MGB is a remarkable car. Just consider the statistics: in production at the start of the Swinging Sixties, it lasted 28 years before finally bowing out in 1980 as Margaret Thatcher was bringing about her vision of utopian Britain. In that time, almost 400,000 B's left the Abingdon lines. And after the factory closed, the B fueled the growth of a remarkable industry geared solely to maintaining, improving and recreating the breed.

Yes, some people will sneer that the MGB is ‘boring', but that is merely blinkered nonsense brought about by the characteristic British fear of success. The MGB deserves to be at the top of the shopping list for anybody who is looking for a classic sports car that is practical and affordable as well as stylish.

Will be sold WOF'd and Registered if sold in New Zealand.
