1999 Jaguar S Type 4.0ltr V8
Specifications
Description
Introduced in 1999, the Jaguar S-Type marked an important new chapter for the marque, bringing traditional Jaguar character into a thoroughly modern executive saloon.
Its distinctive styling deliberately recalled the celebrated Mk2 saloons of the 1960s, with the rounded grille, quad headlights and flowing bodywork giving the S-Type an unmistakable Jaguar identity.
At the top of the early S-Type range sat the impressive 4.0-litre V8, delivering the smooth, effortless performance expected of a sporting Jaguar. Rear-wheel drive, refined road manners and strong V8 power gave the S-Type a character quite different from many of its German contemporaries; more relaxed grand tourer than hard-edged sports saloon.
Inside, Jaguar remained equally faithful to its traditions. Leather upholstery, extensive timber veneer and elegant instrumentation created an interior with warmth and character at a time when many luxury cars were becoming increasingly austere. Today, the 4.0-litre S-Type represents an interesting period in Jaguar history: a modern V8 saloon deliberately designed to reconnect the company with the style and personality of its past.
ABOUT THIS CAR
- Presents in very good used condition for its age and mileage.
- The car has clearly been maintained and cared for over the years, although no formal servicing records accompany the vehicle.
- Brand-new battery recently fitted.
- Straight and tidy bodywork with attractive factory paintwork.
- Paintwork presents very well overall, with the occasional hair line scratch, mark and stone chip consistent with age and normal use. One noticeable scratch on left front guard (here shown in photo)
- Interior remains in very good overall condition, showing some visible wear and tear as would reasonably be expected of a vehicle of this age and mileage (mainly driver's seat needs to be redyed).
- The 4.0-litre V8 runs smoothly and provides the refined performance for which this model is known.
- Space-saver spare wheel located in the boot.
- Heater is currently not blowing hot air and will require investigation - other than that, no known issues.
- Overall, this is a very presentable and usable 1999 Jaguar S-Type, with its condition appropriately reflecting nearly three decades of careful use.

This Jaguar S-Type 4.0 V8 represents an extraordinary amount of motor car for the money.
With its handsome, distinctive styling, beautifully appointed leather and timber interior and effortless V8 performance, it delivers the sense of occasion traditionally associated with a far more expensive luxury car. Few cars at this price point offer quite the same combination of presence, character and refinement.
Just as importantly, the S-Type is slowly becoming a classic Jaguar that can still be used and enjoyed as a proper everyday motor car. It is comfortable around town, wonderfully relaxed on the open road and powerful enough to make a long journey something to look forward to. There is room for four adults, a practical boot and all the comfort and convenience expected of a modern luxury saloon, without sacrificing that unmistakable Jaguar atmosphere.
Perhaps that is the greatest appeal of the 4.0-litre S-Type today. It offers beauty, luxury and V8 motoring without breaking the bank. As good examples of 1990s prestige cars become increasingly appreciated, the S-Type provides an affordable way into a distinctive era of Jaguar ownership; a car to enjoy now, rather than simply admire in the garage.
Will be sold with a new WOF and 12 months registration.
