Ferrari 308 GT4 Dino 1975

Specifications

Description

The Ferrari 308 GT4 was a mid engined V8 powered 2+2 car built by Ferrari.

It was introduced in 1973 and replaced by the Mondial 8 in 1980 after a production run of 2,826 vehicles. It was sold with “DINObadging (continuing the Dino brand to differentiate non-V12s) until May 1976, when all badging was replaced with "Ferrari" badging.

3.0L Quad Cam V8 with four Weber Carburetor, the 308 GT4 2+2 was a groundbreaking model for Ferrari in several ways.  It was the first production Ferrari to feature the mid-engined V8 layout that would become the bulk of the company's business in the succeeding decades, and was the first production Ferrari to feature Bertone (rather than Pininfarina) bodywork.

This vehicle is in BEAUTIFUL CONDITION with all servicing kept current. Major service recently had undertaken covering the following items: Cam belt & timing belts replaced, all front & rear wishbone suspension bushes replaced, replaced front & rear sway bar bushes & link bushes, replaced both rear wheel bearings, wheels aligned. All engine gaskets replaced, oil temperature sender unit replaced, new spark plugs & air filter. Ignition points & condensers replaced. Carburetors serviced & balanced, fan belt replaced. Imported from Britain in 1986 it was subject to a full restoration from the ground up. No expense was spared in this process; many of the receipts from this period are available and come with the car. An example of some of the costs involved in this 1987 – 1988 period are $3,200 for the leather interior refurbishment, body restoration and painting alone was $21,800!

At the height of Ferrari prices in 1989 this vehicle had a local written valuation of NZD$100,000 – a reflection of the quality of the vehicle's condition. At that time in European markets top examples like this one were selling for up to NZD$125,000.

Only 2826 GT4's were produced worldwide and there are approximately 20 in NZ.

This vehicle has been owned by the same family for the past 23 years and has always been pampered & treasured as a Ferrari should be.

Fabulous driving car, very smooth and fast for its year of manufacture. Top speed when new was 250 km/h (150mph) and it still has plenty of this ability! Many motoring writers over the years have said that this model Ferrari is a better drive than the later 308 GTB which is powered by the same engine.

Maintained regardless of cost, this car is in BEAUTIFUL condition throughout having been very well cared for all its life.

Car will be sold with a 6 month WOF and 12 month Registration if sold in New Zealand.

SHIPPING / TRANSPORT CAN BE ORGANISED ON BUYER'S BEHALF AT BUYERS COST.
