Daimler Conquest 1954

Specifications

Description

Here we have a very fine example of these beautiful models!

Very good rust free body. Very Good paint in original colour.

Interior is very good. Leather Seats, Wood and Carpets still original. No rips on carpets or seats. Leather shows its age but not hard. Excellent wood, good door panels and seats. Hood lining in very good condition. All instruments, switches including heater and period radio work and are in excellent condition.

Door / windscreen rubbers OK (not perfect) but NO leaks.

This car is mechanically sound throughout. Pre-select gearbox in very good condition and works as it should. Very good suspension. No rattles or noises. Very, very comfortable to drive.

Good tires. Spare Wheel, Car Jack and tools available with car.

Clean engine bay. Motor in very good condition. Doesn't smoke or burn oil. Car starts first time and is reliable.

Very usable classic car - excellent as a weekend car and for touring. Mileage is in MILES.

In my opinion, these Daimlers are way undervalued in New Zealand, as good ones have started to fetch good money in the UK and Europe.

Definately a good investment at this price.

Model History

By the early fifties Daimler was looking to the production of a truly 'modern' car. The first result of the postwar design activity was a four-cylinder 14hp Lanchester, known on export markets as the 'Leda'. The rounded body style was typical fifties, and eventually served to become the six-cylinder 75bhp Daimler Conquest.

The Conquest range can be a little bewildering to the uninitiated, as Daimler developed it in several directions at once. Its engine was uprated to give 100bhp, and logically renamed the Conquest Century, although the basic Conquest remained in production as well. The Conquest Century's performance made it attractive to competition drivers everywhere, especially in Britain, Australia and the USA.
