Sold Austin Maxi 1973

Austin Maxi 1973

Here we have a most honest, most original 1973 Austin Maxi in ABSOLUTE MINT CONDITION throughout. It will be very hard to find another example like it, especially in New Zealand.

BMC's last major model, the Austin Maxi was designed to fill the gap between the Austin / Morris 1100 1300 and 1800 ranges, and using the same doors as the 1800.

The Maxi became the British Motor Industry's first 5 door, 5 speed family saloon. It was also the very first new model released by the newly formed British Leyland Motor Corporation (BLMC).

Created at Longbridge by a design team lead by Alex Issigonis. Two works rally cars were entered in the 16000 mile 1970 Daily Mail London to Mexico “World Cup Rally, one car finishing 10th and winning the Ladies Team price, and the other car 24th.

This car not only looks like new but still feels and drives like new. Hardly a chip on the body's original paint. Mint Interior, Engine Bay looks like this car's hardly ever been driven.

Very good tires, good battery and excellent motor. A Five (5) speed manual, rod operated transmission acts as an overdrive, which not only contributes to a smoother drive but helps you save money as well.

A Family Saloon, which will treat you very kindly offering an extremely roomy interior, comfort, driveability, reliability and economy. It really is versatile and can be used as an Estate Car, a School Bus, a Removal Van or an Overnight Camper – Yes, you can sleep in a Maxi because the rear seats have been designed to convert, quickly, into a comfortable bed for two.

PRICE FIRM. Registration is currently On Hold. Has a brand new WOF. Will be sold with a 12 months registration.
