- Immaculate interior - good hood lining etc and comes with many gadgets, including LCD touchscreen. The cabin is sporty and elegant, featuring Jaguar’s most luxurious amenities at the time. The seats, the dashboard, most of the door panels, center console and steering wheel are covered in soft leather. The dash, center console, door panels all immaculate.
- As with all XJ models, the XJR's most impressive technology is in its chassis. In construction, it is as close as possible to having a true monocoque structure, with large areas of the skin used as stressed chassis members. That, and extensive use of lightweight aluminum and magnesium alloys in its construction, makes for a svelte automobile. Its 4,000-pound curb weight is remarkably light for a car of its size and up to 500 pounds less than some competitors.
- The fully independent double-wishbone suspension uses aluminum for its control arms, reducing unsprung weight and improving ride and handling.
- A touring-oriented tuning with self-leveling air springs and enhanced Computer Active Technology continuously variable shock damping ensures a pleasant ride quality and better handling than expected from a large luxury sedan. Like the shocks, the air springs are computer controlled, and they increase stiffness with load.
- Around town, the ride is soft and very well damped, as expected from a luxury automobile. But wick up the speed a bit, and this cat becomes a toned athlete. The speed-sensitive, variable-ratio power rack-and-pinion steering is light at low speeds for easy maneuverability but becomes appropriately firmer at higher speeds or in more aggressive driving.
- This XJR takes care of active safety requirements well with its first-rate handling response; its strong antilock braking system with brake assist; and its unintrusive stability-control system. Traction control enhances both stability under acceleration and rear-tire life. On the passive-safety front, the adaptive-restraint technology uses ultrasonic sensors to calculate front-passenger position and other sensors to determine driver position and closeness to the steering wheel, as well as seat-belt use. It also monitors the front seat-mounted side air bags. Side curtain air bags give head protection to both front and rear occupants.
The Jaguar XJ remains one of the best luxury cars you can buy. It also appears to be one of the best values, at least in terms of price paid for the luxury it exudes.
As for the ride, it is impeccable whether you are the one in the driver's seat or relaxing as someone else takes the wheel. In fact, the luxury of being a passenger in this vehicle might be one its makers had in mind when they designed it.

Waimak Classic Cars Ltd is a New Zealand registered company and accepts that the vehicle being sold must be of “acceptable quality” in terms of section 7 of the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (the Act) having regard to “the nature of the goods”.
Waimak Classic Cars is not aware of any specific defects with the vehicle, however (a) such a vehicle being a classic vehicle may have mechanical breakdowns, electrical failures at inconvenient times and maintenance costs being part of and parcel of ownership of a classic vehicle; (b) reliability is a combination of the particular nature of the classic vehicle, how it is being driven, how it has been maintained, and to a certain extent luck; (c) because of the age of the vehicle, and its propensity to rust, it is likely that the vehicle would have been fully or partially restored, or at least repainted at some point in its life, maybe even more than once. Waimak Classic Cars does not know, and cannot give advice on how good any restoration work on the vehicle had been.
The Purchaser acknowledges that the vehicle is being sold as a classic car; that in terms of the Act and the nature of the goods, the vehicle is an old car, bike or boat, that may have visual and hidden faults, unlike a new motor vehicle.
The Purchaser is encouraged to personally fully inspect the vehicle and also to have the vehicle inspected, and fully assessed by an experienced, independent, specialist garage - before committing to purchase. While the Purchaser is entitled to rely on statements given by Waimak Classic Cars as being correct, where goods such as vehicles are concerned, with so many moving parts and rust being an issue with older vehicles; a Purchaser who chooses not to seek independent professional assistance when assessing the quality of what they propose to buy is considered as buying at their own risk, and if the vehicle then turns out to be of less than the represented quality, or not up to the Purchaser's expectation, or in the Purchaser opinion not fit for purpose; then the Purchaser is considered to have contributed to their own loss and should not expect any refunds or betterment from Waimak Classic Cars.
The Purchaser acknowledges that they have read and fully understand this notification and the nature of a car which is many years old.
