- We understand that this car used to be owned by an aircraft engineer, and it shows, both aesthetically and mechanically. Albeit no documented history is available with the vehicle, which is a shame, as we're sure there would have been plenty of records, we are informed that fuel injection system had been overhauled and that the car was fully restored; that the interior has been fully redone and that paint was stripped down to bare metal and repainted in original colour. We can vouch for that.
This TR6 offers genuine grunt and a truly invigorating driving experience.
The standard brakes perform confidently, while the independent rear suspension provides far more composed handling than earlier TR models with live axles. Solid and beautifully sorted, it drives exactly as a TR6 should.
The manual/overdrive gearbox is both positive and rewarding to use. Gear changes are a pleasure, especially when taking advantage of the torque from the sonorous straight-six. Hold the gears a little longer and you’re treated to a delicious, rasping exhaust note that defines the TR6 experience.
A superb driver’s car with excellent investment potential, this TR6 is ideal for someone who appreciates style, engineering, and classic open-top motoring. Every line and every angle contributes to its unmistakable character.
The TR6 ranks as one of the most popular and beloved British sports cars ever built. Underneath, it retained the proven TR5 mechanicals, fuel-injected straight-six engine and IRS chassis paired with a sharp new redesign by the German firm Karmann. The result is a car with timeless appeal and genuine sporting ability.
For anyone considering the pleasures of open-top British motoring, the TR6 is an excellent choice. Club and specialist support is exceptional, and values have strengthened significantly in recent years. With TR5 prices soaring, many buyers have turned to the TR6 - mechanically near-identical but still offering strong value.
Prices continue to rise, making this a smart, enjoyable, and appreciating classic.
