The MGB is Britain's most popular classic car with good reason: it's widely available; has great parts and specialist support; and as long as you're not too demanding an owner, they are really good fun to drive.
And let's be honest, that B-series engine sounds good when rasping through the exhaust system.
ABOUT THIS CAR
- This is a tidy example – its rare too being an automatic.We understand under 400 of these were manufactured.
- Drives really nice.
- Basic and solid, everything works as it should.
- Comes with Cool Sliding Ragtop Roof
- Nice tidy interior – all original.
- These wee cars had good solid engines, known and much loved in the MG fraternity. It's strong, easy to work on and simple to tune with good club support.
- This is actually a very nice car. Albeit no history nor restoration records are available, this car obviously had some restoration work at some point in its life...like its clear that the upholstery, carpets, door cards etc have been redone. No doubt its had plenty of engine and mechanical work over the years. The body is also very straight and the paint is lovely.
- Good tires on wires.
The MGB was an epochal car for MG.
When launched in 1962, a up to-the-minute specification meant it was a delight to drive compared with its rivals, as well as being a significant step forward from the MGA.
During its 18-year production run, it became the world's best-selling sports car and since it went out of production in 1980 (by which time, it was already a classic), an entire support industry has grown up around it.
In 1980, the MGB came to an end - and its second life as the world's favourite classic car began in earnest.

Waimak Classic Cars Ltd is a New Zealand registered company and accepts that the vehicle being sold must be of “acceptable quality” in terms of section 7 of the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (the Act) having regard to “the nature of the goods”.
Waimak Classic Cars is not aware of any specific defects with the vehicle, however (a) such a vehicle being a classic vehicle may have mechanical breakdowns, electrical failures at inconvenient times and maintenance costs being part of and parcel of ownership of a classic vehicle; (b) reliability is a combination of the particular nature of the classic vehicle, how it is being driven, how it has been maintained, and to a certain extent luck; (c) because of the age of the vehicle, and its propensity to rust, it is likely that the vehicle would have been fully or partially restored, or at least repainted at some point in its life, maybe even more than once. Waimak Classic Cars does not know, and cannot give advice on how good any restoration work on the vehicle had been.
The Purchaser acknowledges that the vehicle is being sold as a classic car; that in terms of the Act and the nature of the goods, the vehicle is an old car, bike or boat, that may have visual and hidden faults, unlike a new motor vehicle.
