Description
Men of whatever age or means might do well to stay out of flirting range of this Mercedes 230SL. Lest they will become involved.
For this classy, sporty classic knows an uncanny lot about men and what it takes to make them fall in love with a fine motorcar.
And what a fine motorcar it is¦regard some of her charms that could very well turn the heads of the most respectable members of your community.
She was born and bred on the most wicked racecourses in the world and brought to sophisticated refinement on the speed limitless Autobahn and the boulevards of the worlds most renown capitals.
ABOUT THIS CAR
- Introduced at the Geneva Salon in March 1963 as replacement for the 190SL, the 230SL abandoned its predecessor's four-cylinder engine in favour of a 2.3 liter fuel-injected six cylinder engine derived from that of the 220SE and producing 150bhp.
- An instant classic, the body design was all-new while beneath the skin the running gear was conventional Mercedes-Benz, featuring all-round independent suspension (by swing axles at the rear), disc front/drum rear brakes.
- Power steering.
- This is an early model with the small sideway seat in the rear. This is known as the Kinder Seat, which was a factory option for these cars. It was coded as Option 565 on the data card.
- Presented in a metallic red with black interior and a black soft top.
- A well preserved car with good chrome-work, good trim, good paint-work and a good healthy engine.
- Best described as being in excellent condition throughout.
- Rarely do we see 230 SL's in such condition¦in fact rarely do we see SL230's in New Zealand at all.
- Comes complete with Original Mercedes Handbook.
- Imported into New Zealand in 2023, from California, this car was sold new in Germany. To the best of our knowledge, this car was purchased new in Germany by its original owner who moved to the USA and took the car with him.
- Car is mint - it was obviously restored at some stage but no restoration records or servicing history is available.
- We complied this car in New Zealand in 2024.
Mercedes engineering integrity, together with elegance and practicality, made the pagoda top SL cars among the most distinctive designs of the era, in closed form offering handsome proportions and comfort and with the hard top removed offering lively open-top performance.
It is largely thanks to these attributes that they remain so universally popular today and command such a large market following.
This 230SL is a two-seater roadster and much more.
Its a grand touring car with all the classic features called for in that strict and high level classification.
It is fully instrumented and its loving heart of a fuel injection engine will beat all day at 125mph.
This temptress is now displaying her charms at Waimak Classic Cars. One look might not hurt, so go on, be brazen, and bring the wife along.
A rare car and a good investment.
Will be sold WOF'd and Registered if sold in New Zealand.
