1963 Jaguar E Type Series One FHC

Specifications

Description

The E-type has consistently been rated by pollsters, motoring journalists and even your grandmother, as one of, if not the most, beautiful cars of all time.

Enzo Ferrari himself said as much, a huge compliment when you consider that the E-type was in direct competition to his cars.

Not only is it staggeringly beautiful, but also surprisingly practical. There really is an E-type for every person and every occasion.

For the purist, an early 3.8-litre FHC like this one will be top of the wish list.

ABOUT THIS CAR

  • History - Matching Numbers Car, and this is important, especially with early Series 1 cars. This car was manufactured on the 9th of December 1963 and sold new in New York by Jaguar cars New York in 1963. It was dispatched on the 23rd of December 1963. Chassis 889616 / Engine RA4524 - 9 / Body Number V7036 / Gearbox EB12715JS - Jaguar Heritage Certificate Available.
  • Restoration - this took place in the 90's and the car is still pretty much Mint. As one may see from photos, this car was completely stripped and rebuild.
  • The engine is smooth with no unduly noises. In fact, the 3.8 ltr engine revs so much nicer than the 4.2 motor and this car is fitted with the four-speed manual Moss gearbox, which is in perfect working order.
  • Mechanically - Engine had been done with new rings, bearings and clutch were fitted in the mid 90's. Gearbox was completely overhauled - Motor and clutch were balanced / starter motor and generator overhauled / Brakes overhauled / new wheel cylinders and master cylinders were fitted. Diff was dismantled and new seals were fitted. Oil pressure sits on idle where it should be around the 40psi mark.
  • Body and Paint - Perfect Colour Combo - Opalescent Maroon with Tan Leather on Wire wheels - doesn't come any better than that. Door / Windscreen Rubber like new all round. Chrome is like new - this was all redone.
  • Electrical - A complete new wiring loom was also fitted during restoration. All instruments work as they should.
  • Comes complete with Five Wire wheels, Thor Hammer, Jack, Factory Driver's Manual and VCC Certificate.

To put value in perspective, it’s what’s under the skin that’s important.

There are lots of cars out there that have had a cosmetic job and make look beautiful but have not had the attention to detail that’s gone into this restoration. The photos here show it all. Since then, it has always been garaged and only used in the dry.

This car was totally rebuilt by a perfectionist with a total body off nut and bolt restoration. They don’t come much better than this unless they are a show car that is never driven on the roads. However, half the pleasure of ownership is using the car and this one drives beautifully.

This is a classic that will only rise in value – a very good and driveable investment for the future.

A good example like this one will provide years of motoring Nirvana.

Car will be sold WOF'd and Registered if sold in New Zealand.

Waimak Classic Cars is not aware of any specific defects with the vehicle, however (a) such a vehicle being a classic vehicle may have mechanical breakdowns, electrical failures at inconvenient times and maintenance costs being part of and parcel of ownership of a classic vehicle; (b) reliability is a combination of the particular nature of the classic vehicle, how it is being driven, how it has been maintained, and to a certain extent luck; (c) because of the age of the vehicle, and its propensity to rust, it is likely that the vehicle would have been fully or partially restored, or at least repainted at some point in its life, maybe even more than once. Waimak Classic Cars does not know, and cannot give advice on how good any restoration work on the vehicle had been.

The Purchaser acknowledges that the vehicle is being sold as a classic car; that in terms of the Act and the nature of the goods, the vehicle is an old car, bike or boat, that may have visual and hidden faults, unlike a new motor vehicle.

The Purchaser is encouraged to personally fully inspect the vehicle and also to have the vehicle inspected, and fully assessed by an experienced, independent, specialist garage - before committing to purchase. While the Purchaser is entitled to rely on statements given by Waimak Classic Cars as being correct, where goods such as vehicles are concerned, with so many moving parts and rust being an issue with older vehicles; a Purchaser who chooses not to seek independent professional assistance when assessing the quality of what they propose to buy is considered as buying at their own risk, and if the vehicle then turns out to be of less than the represented quality, or not up to the Purchaser's expectation, or in the Purchaser opinion not fit for purpose; then the Purchaser is considered to have contributed to their own loss and should not expect any refunds or betterment from Waimak Classic Cars.

The Purchaser acknowledges that they have read and fully understand this notification and the nature of a car which is many years old.
