      The Morris Major was in March 1958, developed from the contemporary Wolseley 1500 and Riley 1.5 Models then on sale in the UK.

      The Major was produced at BMC Australia's Victoria Park plant at Zetland in Sydney, Australia, and was unique to that country, containing up to 98% local content.

      The Major, as distinct from the sportier and more luxurious Wolseley/Riley cars, shared a similar level of appointment, finish and engine tune with contemporary Morris and Austin models.

      Although comparatively modest, the Major was quite a modern car with a generally high level of comfort, quality and value. The sporting potential of the Major was recognised immediately and specially prepared cars were raced into the early 1960s.

      • This is a really nice example of a rare and unusual car in New Zealand.
      • The car is Mint with a well recorded service history - recently by Auto Restorations in Christchurch.
      • Paint is very good with a straight body, good gaps etc.
      • The interior is in beautiful condition. Upholstery / carpets / Door cards / Wind lace / Rubber - everything is almost like new.
      • Doors, Boot, Bonnet - all shut properly.
      • Car starts without any issues whatsoever, ticks along like a Swiss watch and drives beautifully.
      • Car was an owner import from Victoria Australia - first registered in New Zealand in 2011 - only One owner in New Zealand.

      Waimak Classic Cars is not aware of any specific defects with the vehicle, however (a) such a vehicle being a classic vehicle may have mechanical breakdowns, electrical failures at inconvenient times and maintenance costs being part of and parcel of ownership of a classic car; (b) reliability is a combination of the particular nature of the classic vehicle, how it is being driven, how it has been maintained, and to a certain extent luck.

      The Purchaser acknowledges that the vehicle is being sold as a classic car; that in terms of the Act and the nature of the goods, the vehicle, is an old car that may have faults, unlike a modern motor vehicle.

      The Purchaser is encouraged to personally fully inspect the vehicle and/or to have the vehicle inspected, fully assessed and maintained by an experienced classic car mechanic.

      The Purchaser acknowledges that they have read and fully understand this notification and the nature of a car which is many years old.
