Wind Back Time
1965 Sunbeam Alpine
Specifications
Description
The Sunbeam Alpine is a two-seater sports roadster, that was produced by the Rootes Group from 1953 to 1955, and then 1959 to 1968.
This iconic British sports car is a true testament to the era of pure unadulterated driving pleasure. The Alpine was derived from the Sunbeam-Talbot 90 saloon and has become colloquially known as the Talbot Alpine.
ABOUT THIS CAR
- Very Nice Condition throughout.
- Under the bonnet, you'll find a 1725CC 4 Cylinder engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. This combination offers a driving experience that's both engaging and rewarding with the kind of performance that made the Sunbeam Alpine a favorite among driving enthusiasts.
- A cute British car, with a lot of pick up for a small car.
- Everyone loves this old car. Little kids go nuts for it, the ladies wave at it, and old men like me recall their British sports car loves lost :)
- Reliability is near bulletproof for a car this vintage, and it's reasonably easy to wrench on, if a little compact under the bonnet certainly no worse than a TR or MG.
- Spares are no problem for normal wear items.
- You can drive this car like it's Japanese, everyday in the summer, and usually only do routine maintenance, and something more major every five years or so.
- Clean body having been lovingly restored by us circa 5 years ago. Any rust was removed and car underwent a complete strip down and bare metal paint job before we got it complied in New Zealand. Photographic evidence available.
- Engine and mechanicals were rebuilt in Queensland, Australia some years before we imported it to New Zealand. Only traveled circa 15K kms since.
- This car was sold to a customer of ours who now moved permanently to Australia. In the last 5 years, car was maintained and serviced by Messrs Paul Walbran Motors and is today in perfect running order.
- A great alternative to an MG or Triumph...and much rarer too.
Very few of these cars are ever seen on the big screen. However, a sapphire blue Alpine featured prominently in the 1955 Alfred Hitchcock film To catch A Thief starring Cary Grant and Grace Kelly.
Buy a good one, like this one, and you won't go wrong.
Car will be sold WOF'd and registered if sold in New Zealand.
