1958 Rover P4 105S

Specifications

Description

The Gentleman’s Motor Car...the Rover P4 105S, a timeless expression of British refinement, where dignity, craftsmanship, and understated elegance define every journey.

Built for those who valued quiet luxury over ostentation, the P4 105S delivers a driving experience rooted in grace and tradition, offering a rare glimpse into an era when motoring was as much about character as it was about getting from A to B.

The P4 range was produced from 1949 to 1964, but the 105S represents one of the more desirable and refined variants, benefiting from improved performance and the addition of an overdrive gearbox. Today, well-presented examples are becoming increasingly scarce, particularly those retaining originality and correct specification.

Often overshadowed by more overtly sporting classics, the P4 has quietly built a strong following among enthusiasts who appreciate its build quality, usability, and unmistakable presence. As the market shifts toward authentic, usable classics, the 105S is gaining recognition as a true connoisseur’s car - one that offers both enjoyment and long-term collectibility.

ABOUT THIS CAR

  • Three owners from new - with two main long term owners for 65 years.
  • Always garaged, all tools, handbook, Original Certificate Of Registration still with car.
  • Various maintenance records available.
  • This is a very rare P4 variant in New Zealand.
  • This car is best described as an honest, unrestored original, presenting exactly as it should for a vehicle of its age. Sure its had some touch ups around the paint, which is expected for its age but it remains tidy throughout, with a gentle, authentic patina that tells its story rather than detracts from it. The kind of character that simply cannot be replicated by restoration. This is very much an “original survivor,” and one that would, in many respects, be a shame to over-restore, as its charm lies in its originality and integrity.
  • The body is clean, straight, and well-aligned, with no signs of distortion or neglect, reflecting careful ownership over the years.
  • The paintwork is presentable and tidy, carrying a consistent finish that complements the car’s honest condition.
  • Overall, it is a beautifully preserved example, not overdone, not altered but quietly impressive in its authenticity.
  • Runs and drives very well, this faithful auntie Rover is now looking for a new home.
  • Quality engineering, constant refinement and absolute reliability - love these Rovers.
  • Odometer in Miles

Today, the 1958 Rover P4 105S is increasingly recognised as a rare and desirable classic, particularly in unrestored, original condition.

Well-preserved survivors like this are scarce, making them highly sought after by collectors who value authenticity, character, and understated British luxury.

Over recent years, values for tidy, original examples have shown steady appreciation, reflecting growing recognition of the P4 105S as both a usable classic and a sound long-term investment.

With its combination of rarity, pedigree, and timeless appeal, this Rover represents a compelling opportunity to own a piece of motoring history that is likely to continue gaining respect and desirability in the collector market.
