Description
Few cars capture the romance of Italian motoring quite like the Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV.
With its beautifully balanced proportions penned by a young Giorgetto Giugiaro during his time at Bertone, the elegant 105-Series coupé has become one of the definitive sporting GT cars of the 1970s. Beneath that unmistakably Italian styling lies much of what made Alfa Romeo legendary: a jewel-like twin-cam engine, slick 5-speed manual gearbox, responsive chassis and wonderfully communicative steering. It is a combination that delivers character and driver involvement in equal measure.
Introduced as the final and most developed evolution of the celebrated Giulia Sprint GT lineage, the 2000 GTV was powered by Alfa Romeo’s larger 1962cc all-alloy twin-cam four-cylinder engine, producing approximately 129 horsepower and complemented by four-wheel disc brakes. These cars quickly developed an enthusiastic following for their balance, distinctive exhaust note and engaging road manners. More than half a century later, that appeal has only strengthened, with the 1750 and 2000 GTV now regarded among the most desirable and collectible classic Alfa Romeos; cars that perfectly capture an era when performance, elegance and driving pleasure came together in one beautifully simple package.

About this Vehicle
- This particular example presents as a wonderfully honest and highly original car, which is increasingly rare in a market now dominated by heavily restored or modified examples. Retaining its authentic character, factory charm and period-correct feel, it is accompanied by an extensive history file documenting long-term ownership, maintenance and preservation over the years. Original, well-documented cars such as this are becoming exceptionally difficult to source, particularly examples that have avoided major alteration or corrosion issues.

- Comes with jack, tools and spare wheel.
- Original boot rubber mat still in car although has seen better days.
- The body presents exceptionally well, with clean lines and a very tidy overall appearance complemented by quality paintwork. As an honest survivor car, it retains a genuine character consistent with its age, and accordingly there are the occasional minor stone chips or small imperfections one would expect of a well-preserved classic rather than an over-restored example.
- Overall, it remains a remarkably well-kept and highly presentable Alfa Romeo.
Market Review
The Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV has seen substantial appreciation in recent years as collectors increasingly recognise the importance of the 105-Series cars within Alfa Romeo’s history. Excellent restored examples now regularly command values well above the $100,000 mark, while exceptional, highly original or concours-standard cars can achieve significantly more at auction. Importantly, the market is becoming increasingly discerning: provenance, originality, structural condition and quality of restoration all play a major role in determining value, with well-documented, rust-free cars becoming increasingly difficult to find.
The appeal of the 2000 GTV, however, extends far beyond investment potential. Beautifully proportioned and unmistakably Italian, it is the driving experience that has secured the model’s enduring reputation: light, communicative, responsive and full of character in a way few modern performance cars can replicate. These are cars driven as much by emotion as by mechanics, and growing enthusiast appreciation for original surviving examples over heavily altered cars is helping the best examples remain tightly held. A true collector’s classic, the 2000 GTV stands today as one of the great Italian driver’s coupés of its generation.
