"Hi Jesmond & Gloria, Confirming my email of earlier today the Jag arrived early this morning understandably extremely dirty after weathering the worst storm to hit the country so far this year while being freighted, but has washed up beautifully and we look forward to taking it for a spin or two - or three - over the next couple of days before the next storm hits the country. We have nothing but praise for the professional way in which you both dealt with us - right from when we turned up in ChCh to take a look at the Jag - storing it for a few weeks for us and arranging the freighting of it to Palmerston North. The whole process was totally flawless and after having purchased a vintage/classic car from you cannot imagine buying an older car any other way than through Waimak Classic Cars. It has been a real pleasure dealing with both of you and thanks very much for the bottle of Moscato Rose."Bryan & Catherine Abraham, Palmerston North
The D series is a line of pick up trucks, that was sold by Dodge from 1960 to 1993.
The same basic design was retained until the October 1993 introduction of a completely redesigned Ram.
This is a Third Generation Truck redesigned for the 1972 model year, which introduced a more rounded look. This redesign, which lasted until 1980 with minor changes, included new features such as an independent front suspension and pocketed taillights.
Styling cues, such as the scalloped hood and rounded fender wells, were similar to the rounded, smooth look of the 1971 Plymouth Satellite. These trucks were built with a considerable amount of galvanized steel to resist rust and corrosion, making them very durable.
Worth noting that this Adventurer was a Special model.
ABOUT THIS TRUCK
- This is a very ORIGINAL Truck down to the paint, which is why we thought best just leave and sell it as is, with Patina and all, rather than restore it (would be worth 65K+ restored).
- First Registered in New Zealand in 1977.
- Mechanically its a very sound truck - Sweet sounding motor - it will drive to the USA and back.
- We understand motor was rebuilt in 2020 (but have no receipts to show) and that its only done circa 12K Miles since engine rebuilt.
- Built sheet present, albeit quite faded.
- Interior is factory original in good condition. In fact, the Adventurer trim package got you some comfort and appearance upgrades.
- Body is solid with some surface rust visible all over, paint fade, scratches, chips, dents etc - it is a truck.
- Good tires.
- NOTE: VTNZ WOF sheet attached. Items failed on are minor and will be remedied for a Buyer at our cost.
- We can offer to restore it at Buyer's cost, or you can just drive and enjoy as is.
These trucks are still on the roads in large numbers, since there’s always someone who needs a simple work truck and doesn’t care if that truck is 10 or 40 years old. They were the last to carry the "D series" name, which lasted until 1993.
Fair to state that the look of the new D series in 1972 would remain fairly constant; the real reason was probably cost, but Dodge claimed that truck buyers wanted reliability and durability rather than fashion changes, which rather flew in the face of their past styling efforts. There would be many changes to the Dodge pickups, but the basic look, outside of grilles and paintwork, stayed fairly unchanged for two decades.
Great Classic Truck, that will outlast many modern ones.
Good Promotional Vehicle - ideal for Lifestyle Properties, Vineyards, Farms, Businesses etc.
Hard to find in such original condition.
Will be sold WOF'd and Registered if sold in New Zealand.
